Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is a group of actors and she herself has been working in both fields. In 1985 she made her acting debut in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. In 1988 she had the leading role in the debut film of Cristina Comencini, Zoo (1988), and also was part of the cast of The Church (1989), directed by Michele Soavi. In the following year, she was Nanni Moretti's daughter in Red Wood Pigeon (1989) (also directed by Moretti). The film Close Friends (1992), written and directed by Michele Placido, that Asia's career took off. she could change from playing young girls to more mature, complex role. The movie was well-received during the Cannes International Film Festival. For Trauma (1993) the actress made her debut with her father, famed Italian filmmaker Dario Argento (her mother is one of his favorite actors, Daria Nicolodi, playing an obese girl on the lookout of her parents' murderer. The Phantom of the Opera is her third movie with her Father, the first two films being Trauma and The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's absorbed and intense approach to acting has been utilized in the film by Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a nozze. Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot. It was a role that was internationally acclaimed. In 1995, she acted alongside Michel Piccoli in Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion , which again brought her a David diDonatello and an award called a Grolla d'oro. Asia began her career in 1994 as a director when she made two short films: Prospettive (1996), an account of her father's life and her mother, as well as Abel/Asia (1998) which was a documentary on the legendary filmmaker Abel Ferrara. The latter was awarded an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia's first feature length film debut was Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999, where she also played the role of lead actress as well as wrote the screenplay. In May 2000, the movie premiered in Italy and around the globe. In Brooklyn, New York it was awarded an award at the Williamsburg film festival. Anna Lou was born in 2001, after having directed some music videos. The actress starred alongside Jean-Marc Barre as Jean-Marc Barr in The Red Siren, directed by Olivier Megaton. In 2003 she was in Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen's action thriller. Asian's short stories have been published in some of the most prestigious magazines.
